Artist Statement

This series explores the connections that people share, showing how diverse relationships can be. It specifically focuses on how everyone connects in some way, whether it be through blood, careers, hobbies, mindsets, beliefs, religion, etc. Every painting reveals a distinct bond I have with each individual, revealing different parts of my identity.

Recognizing the impact these people have had on me is crucial. They shape the way I think, perceive myself, understand the world, and relate to others. I've come to realize that I'm growing within myself and my art daily, emphasizing the importance of consistency and acknowledging that progress takes time.

From the beginning, I’ve used my art to express how I feel. In the past, I wanted others to understand my feelings because I felt misunderstood and overlooked. Even now, I can't speak of all that happened to me, but at least people have seen how trauma eats at oneself, and now I can show that it doesn't eat at you forever. Healing and growth are possible with the right people nourishing you. My current work conveys a message of resilience and growth, inspired by those who support me, further aiding my journey and making me realize that reliving my trauma through art doesn't and won't complete me. It has changed me for the better.
