GRIFFIN STEWART
GRIFFIN STEWART
Griffin Stewart was born in New York and raised in Brooklyn. He has been sculpting since the age of five and for as long as he can remember, it has been his lifelong pursuit. Every piece he creates is endowed with his perceptive touch. His most recent work tackles philosophical concepts like: Censorship, Divisiveness, Separation, and Emptiness.
Pinnacle of the Mindless
Plaster, Acrylic paint, readymade furniture.
My installation piece will take up roughly a 15ft by 15ft area, with a total of 157 different casted pieces all hand painted and casted. There are a total of 9 different molds used of both heads and other parts of the face layed into a bedroom scene.
Artist Statement
The Pinnacle of the Mindless focuses on the individual’s experience within their own self-proscribed microcosm of propaganda, along with the recognition that censorship today is as pernicious and prevalent as ever. My work asks the question: what happens when everyone is distilled down to nothing but an emote in a sea of faces? And what does that mean for us as we simply swipe by, passively moving through the endless information we are fed?
